Four children.
One home to rebuild.
Geena, Limicke, Spartan, and Neka Booysen lost their home to the storm. The land for a new one is already secured. What we need now is the funding to build it.
Geena (14), Limicke (12), Spartan (11), and Neka (4) Booysen — four beautiful children who, together with their mother, recently lost their home when the storm’s winds tore it apart and left them with nowhere to live.
The family had only moved to George last year. They were still finding their feet in a new community when everything they had worked to build was swept away in a single night.
With no home of their own, they have had to move into their grandparents’ small shack, where conditions are extremely hard. Geena and Spartan share a couch to sleep on. Limicke shares a bed with her grandparents. There is not enough room, not enough warmth, not enough of anything.
Two of them share a couch. One shares a bed with her grandparents. And still, all of them keep going to school.
And yet — the three eldest remain remarkably devoted to their education. Despite everything, they persevere, determined to make the most of every opportunity in front of them.
Here is the hope in this story. We already have land secured on which to build this family a new home. What stands between these children and a roof of their own is funding — that is all. With it, we can give them a home again.

The land is secured. With funding and materials, we can build the Booysen family a home of their own — and give these children the rest, warmth, and stability they deserve.
To Build the Home
Most Urgent
Building fund
The land is already secured — funding is the one thing standing between this family and a completed home. Every contribution goes directly into the build.
Materials
Building materials
Bricks, cement, timber, and roofing. Donations of standard building materials in any quantity are gratefully received.
Trades & Labour
Builders, roofers, handymen
If you can offer your hands, your skills, or your contacts in the building trade — please reach out. Every hour shortens the wait.
Beds
Beds & bedding
Right now the children share a couch and a bed. Beds, mattresses, and bedding will restore a basic dignity the moment the home is ready.
For the Children
Children
Warm clothing & shoes
The children lost belongings in the storm. Warm jackets, shoes, and dry clothes are needed. Please contact us for sizes before dropping off clothing.
School Support
Schooling essentials
The three eldest are devoted to their education. Help with uniforms, shoes, and stationery keeps them in the classroom and moving forward.
How to direct
your donation.
Two registered organisations serve The Valley. Love Looks Like Something is the original NPO — founded in 2020, they run the daily soup kitchen, support the schooling costs of over 700 children in the community, run a Christmas fundraiser each year, and are leading the emergency rebuild of the homes lost in the storm. Elpida is their second NPO, born from that same daily work, with a mandate to build the long-term infrastructure this community needs. Unless you instruct us otherwise, all donations received right now go directly to emergency storm relief — rebuilding the homes lost and meeting the immediate needs of the families affected. To direct your gift to the Booysen family specifically, add their name to your reference, or email us at admin@elpidageorge.co.za. If you require a Section 18A tax certificate, donate to Elpida and use the reference “Storm Appeal” — Elpida is the only registered PBO between the two organisations able to issue them.
Elpida NPO
Elpida is the registered NPO and PBO established to build the long-term infrastructure The Valley needs — a school, a sports development centre, and a trauma and counselling facility. All donations received right now go directly to emergency storm relief unless you instruct otherwise. To ringfence your gift for the Booysen family or another purpose, email admin@elpidageorge.co.za and reference it on your payment. Elpida is a registered PBO — qualifying donations are tax deductible and Section 18A certificates are issued within 30 days. Use the reference: Storm Appeal.

Now we build.
Four children are sharing a couch and a bed in someone else’s home, and still showing up for school every day. The land for their own home is secured. With your help, we can finish what hope has already started.
