A home,
made whole again.
We are overjoyed to share that the rebuilding of Oom Armaan and Tannie Sana’s home is officially complete — a place of safety, comfort, and hope, built by a community that refused to look away.
For many years we have had the privilege of knowing and supporting this special couple — sharing daily meals with them and walking alongside them through life’s hardest seasons.
Now in their late seventies, Oom Armaan and Tannie Sana are raising their teenage grandson, Brendan, after the heartbreaking loss of his mother when he was still very young. When the wind storm tore through The Valley, it destroyed their home entirely and left them with nowhere to go. For a time, they were sleeping outside. We knew we had to act — and quickly.
Just one week later, rebuilding began. The urgency was real. Oom Armaan faces each day with the use of only one arm, and Tannie Sana is slowly losing her eyesight and can stand for only short periods at a time. Their circumstances made giving them back their safety and security not just important, but pressing.
They were sleeping outside. One week later, the rebuild began.
What followed was nothing short of incredible. The generosity of this community was overwhelming. People like Brad and Johan gave their time freely. Builders worked for greatly reduced wages to help make it happen. And countless others contributed in ways both big and small — proving, once again, the quiet power of a community that cares.
Today, thanks to every single person who played a part, Oom Armaan, Tannie Sana, and Brendan have a new and improved home: a place of safety, comfort, and hope for the years ahead.
From the bottom of our hearts
Thank you to Brad and Johan, to every builder who worked for so much less than their worth, and to every person who gave money, materials, or simply their hands. Your kindness has changed a life. This home stands because you stood with us.

Help us reach
the next family.
Oom Armaan and Tannie Sana are home — but they are not the only family the storm left without a roof. The Booysen family and three young brothers, Marno, Eustace and Vonnie, are still waiting for theirs. Unless you instruct us otherwise, every donation received right now goes directly to the ongoing storm rebuild — the families still without a home. If you would prefer your gift directed elsewhere, email us at admin@elpidageorge.co.za and reference your preference clearly on your payment. If you require a Section 18A tax certificate, donate to Elpida and use the reference “Storm Appeal” — Elpida is the only registered PBO between the two organisations able to issue them.
Elpida NPO
Elpida is the registered NPO and PBO established to build the long-term infrastructure The Valley needs — a school, a sports development centre, and a trauma and counselling facility. All donations received right now go directly to emergency storm relief unless you instruct otherwise. To ringfence your gift for the long-term build or a specific family, email admin@elpidageorge.co.za and reference it on your payment. Elpida is a registered PBO — qualifying donations are tax deductible and Section 18A certificates are issued within 30 days. Use the reference: Storm Appeal.

Love Looks Like Something
Love Looks Like Something is the founding ministry of this work — present in The Valley since 2020. They run the daily soup kitchen that feeds hundreds of children every day, fund the schooling costs of over 700 children in the community, organise an annual Christmas fundraiser, and are leading the emergency rebuild of the homes lost in the storm. More still to raise.
Oom Armaan and Tannie Sana show what is possible when a community decides a family will not be left in the cold. Other families are still waiting for that same moment. You can help bring it sooner.
